Kamara in picture at Pompey
Portsmouth have completed the signing of Senegalese striker Diomansy Kamara from Italian club Modena.
The 23-year-old has agreed a three-year deal with Pompey after he was initially set to sign on loan.
The club’s chief executive Peter Storrie told www.pompeyfc.co.uk: “We have worked on this all weekend and it has been pretty exhausting.
“The end result is worth it however because we have acquired another quality striker who some of the top clubs in Europe were interested in.”
Paris-born Kamara began his professional career with Red Star 93 in the French capital before joining Italian Serie C2 side Catanzaro during the 1999-2000 season.
He made 34 league appearances and scored nine times for the Calabrian club before signing for Modena. In two seasons there he scored 11 times in 57 appearances.
Kamara will not play in Pompey’s Barclays Premiership match against Fulham tonight but will be paraded at Fratton Park.
