Wenger targets Valencia star
Arsene Wenger revealed Arsenal are interested in Spanish midfielder Miguel Angulo – but insisted a deal may still not be possible before the transfer window closes next week.
Wenger disclosed that Arsenal scouts had been keeping a close eye on Angulo, 27, who has just a year left on his current contract at Valencia.
However, he played down the chances of signing him amid reports that the Gunners had made a £2.7m (€4m) bid for the attacking midfielder.
“Miguel Angulo is a player that we are looking at but we are still far from completing a move for him,” said Wenger.
Asked if a deal could be completed before the transfer window closes at the end of this month, he added: “To me, it looks short.”
Wenger revealed last week that his interest in Ajax defender Hatem Trabelsi could potentially be revived.
However, when asked if the Tunisia international could soon be arriving at Highbury, he said: “That also looks very short for us now.”
