Frost and Fitzgerald back training for Blues

Waterford United skipper John Frost and long-term injury victim Wayne Fitzgerald have both been cleared to resume training with the Blues.

Waterford United skipper John Frost and long-term injury victim Wayne Fitzgerald have both been cleared to resume training with the Blues.

Fitzgerald has played only two halves of football this season due to a persistent knee injury that required surgery at the beginning of June.

But the 24-year-old midfielder has returned to light training and may reach full fitness in time for Waterford’s FAI Cup quarter-final on the weekend of September 11/12.

Left-back Frost has been missing from the United defence since damaging ankle ligaments during a training session in mid-July.

He has had a plastercast removed from his ankle and player-manager Alan Reynolds is hopeful his captain will reach full fitness in time for the visit of eircom League champions Shelbourne to the RSC on Friday, September 3.
