Drink-driver Yorath avoids jail

Ex-Leeds and Wales soccer star Terry Yorath today narrowly avoided a prison sentence for running over a pedestrian when more than three times the drink drive limit.

Ex-Leeds and Wales soccer star Terry Yorath today narrowly avoided a prison sentence for running over a pedestrian when more than three times the drink drive limit.

Yorath, 54, appeared at Leeds Magistrates Court to be sentenced for driving with excess alcohol and driving without due care and attention in Leeds on June 24.

The former Wales coach was given a 12-month community rehabilitation order, which included 60 hours of community punishment and a £500 (€743) fine. He was also banned from driving for 30 months.
