Blues bounce back to trounce Cats
Waterford United 7 Kilkenny 2
Daryl Murphy scored a hat-trick inside four minutes to take his tally on the night to four goals in a crazy game at the RSC which also saw a trio from Willie Bruton.
Skipper Murphy celebrated his recall to Ireland’s under-21 squad by heading Blues in front from Jose Quitongo’s cross on 22 minutes.
But the Cats hit back to level six minutes later when Keith Maher rose unchallenged to head home Alan Mulcahy’s corner.
Niall Andrews then put Kilkenny in front seven minutes laer.
But Bruton came to life to score twice inside two minutes to give Blues a 3-2 half-time lead.
Bruton's hat-trick arrived within five minutes of the restart before Murphy's blitzkreig of three more goals inside a remarkable four minute spell.
