Assistant manager Howlett stepped into the breach for the Gypsies following the sacking of Stephen Kenny three weeks ago but will take up his new role as head coach after tonight’s game following yesterday’s appointment of former Republic of Ireland international midfielder Gareth Farrelly as player-manager.

Bohs have a nearly fully-fit squad for the cup tie against first division Kildare, their only injury worry being Paul McNally. The former Longford Town defender is to have a late fitness test today on a calf injury he picked up in training.
