Farrelly gets Bohs job

Bohemians have confirmed that Ireland international Gareth Farrelly has been appointed player-manager for the club.

Caretaker manager Gary Howlett will stay in charge of the first team for the next three games, when Gareth Farrelly will take over the reins.

Farrelly has six full Irish International caps and has played for Aston Villa, Everton and Bolton. He was released by Bolton in March before joining Wigan on a short-term deal until end of last season.

Bohs now have three full Irish Internationals in the squad: Gareth Farrelly, Dominic Foley and Glen Crowe.

In a statement today, the club said: "Bohemians Football Club is pleased to announce that Gareth Farrelly has been appointed as our new player manager. We are also pleased to announce that Gary Howlett will be our full time head coach. These appointments are effective from Thursday, August 26."
