Nunez out for a month

Liverpool signing Antonio Nunez will be out for a month with a knee injury.

The midfielder was brought to Anfield as part of the deal taking Michael Owen to Real Madrid but broke down in training yesterday – hours after he was announced as a Liverpool player.

After fearing a fracture, today’s scan revealed he had sustained medial ligament damage to his left knee.

Liverpool spokesman Ian Cotton said: “We expect the player will be out of action for four weeks.”

The 25-year-old is now doubtful for Liverpool’s clash with Manchester United next month.
