Reynolds picks up another ban

Waterford United player-manager Alan Reynolds was in trouble with the eircom League today as he picked up a two-match ban.

Reynolds was handed a one-game suspension last week for the trip to St Patrick’s Athletic on August 27 as a result of reaching eight penalty points.

He was suspended for a further two matches today, one of which he has already served, fined €50 and warned as to his future conduct as a result of being reported by the referee following the match against Longford Town on August 6.

Reynolds will have to watch the home game against eircom League champions Shelbourne on Friday, September 3, at least 50 metres from the technical area.

In other cases dealt with by the league’s disciplinary commission this week, high-flying Drogheda United were denied the services of defender Aidan Lynch and midfielder Barry Molloy for the trip to Cork City on September 3. Both were suspended for one match as a result of reaching four penalty points.

Longford Town defender Graham Gartland will be unavailable for the same reason when the struggling midlanders take on Derry City at Flancare Park on Saturday, September 4.

Longford’s assistant manager Aaron Callaghan also incurred the displeasure of the Disciplinary Commission after being reported by the referee following the match against Shamrock Rovers on August 2. Callaghan was fined €50 and warned as to his future conduct.

Also picking up one-match bans effective from September 1 were Cork City midfielder Brendan Sweeney, Shamrock Rovers left-back Keith Doyle and St Patrick’s Athletic midfielder Keith Fahey. Each player had reached four penalty points.
