Carlisle's Kelly may return to Ireland

Former Derry City defender Darren Kelly is being linked with a return to Ireland following his release from Carlisle United.

Kelly, a former Northern Ireland U21 international, left The Brandywell for Carlisle two years ago when Roddy Collins was in charge.

When the English club slipped out of the Football League in May and beginning life in the Nationwide Conference, Kelly was one of several players let go.

Irish League side Portadown are favourites to sign Kelly.
