After signing for Charlton on the day the south Londoners also bought ex-Everton forward Francis Jeffers from Arsenal for £2.6m (€3.8m), 27-year-old Murphy last night professed himself convinced that Liverpool’s decision to let their home-grown stars depart Merseyside will severely threaten his old club’s long-term success.
