Wenger confident Arsenal can resist Real swoop

Arsene Wenger insists that Arsenal’s board will stand firm in the face of Real Madrid’s moves to buy Patrick Vieira – as there is no financial need to sell the midfielder.

Wenger accepts he may not be able to prevent Vieira leaving if the Frenchman decides it is now time for him to seek a fresh challenge in Spain.
