Thompson set to return
Celtic manager Martin O’Neill could have midfielder Alan Thompson available for Sunday’s Bank of Scotland Premier League opener with Motherwell at Parkhead.
Thompson is likely to return after needing stitches for a gashed shin against Manchester United in the friendly in North America.
On-loan signing Henri Camara is also pushing for a place in the side after scoring on his debut against Newcastle. He faces competition from Chris Sutton, John Hartson and in-form youngster Craig Beattie.
Bobby Petta and David Fernandez are still recovering from muscle and shoulder problems respectively.
Provisional squad: Agathe, Balde, Beattie, Camara, Hartson, Hedman, Laursen, Lennon, McGeady, McManus, McNamara, Pearson, Petrov, Sutton, Sylla, Thompson, Valgaeren, Varga, Wallace.
