Liverpool sign Josemi - report

Liverpool have agreed a deal to bring Malaga defender Josemi to Anfield, according to reports in Spain.

Sports daily Diario AS and Malaga paper Diario Sur both state negotiations were concluded late on Friday night and that the player will soon be jetting out to the USA to join the Reds on their pre-season tour.

The deal is reportedly worth 4million euros and is now subject to Josemi agreeing personal terms with Liverpool.

The 24-year-old, who would become new coach Rafael Benitez’s first signing for the Merseysiders, is able to play at right-back and in the centre of the defence.

He started his career at home-town club Torremolinos before moving along the coast to Malaga as a teenager.

He has since moved through the ranks at La Rosaleda and is now considered a first-team regular, making 35 league appearances last season.
