Martin Keown yesterday stepped into “the real footballing world” after years of living in a protective bubble at Arsenal.

Keown spent 11 years at Highbury, winning Premiership titles, FA Cup and League Cup winners’ medals, as well as competing in the rarefied atmosphere of the Champions League.
