Champions League dream survives for Shels

Shelbourne 0 KR Reykjavik 0

(2-2 on aggregate. Shelbourne win on away goals)

Shels are through to a Champions League second round tie with Croats Hadjuk Split next week, but they had to work hard for this aggregate win, with their two away goals from the first leg proving crucial in the end.

Forced to play mainly on the break in a disappointing first half, Shels created few chances.

KR had the only real effort on goal on five minutes when Steve Williams saved well from Solvi Davidsson.

Shels again had to play on the break for good spells of the second half, but at least they created openings.

Stuart Byrne brought the save of the night from Kristjan Finnbogason on 74 minutes before Jason Byrne sliced wide after great work by Alan Moore.
