Norwich boss eyes move for Ipswich striker

Norwich boss Nigel Worthington has confirmed his interest in adding former Ipswich striker Jamie Scowcroft to his list of summer signings.

Worthington has already recruited for the Canaries’ Premiership return by bringing in Paul Gallacher, David Bentley, Youssef Safri and Simon Charlton.

But Worthington has not finished there and is currently working on deals to bring in Scowcroft, who is now at Leicester, and defender Linvoy Primus from Portsmouth.

“Jamie Scowcroft is a player we have made an enquiry about,” Worthington, with his squad on their pre-season tour of Malaysia, told the Eastern Daily Press.

“He is a very good player and I feel he could add something to our squad. But I must stress that it’s at a very early stage at this moment in time. There is a lot of work still to be done on that one.”

Talks to sign Primus from Pompey are at a more advanced stage and there is even a possibility that a deal could be done in time for him to fly out to join the squad in Kuala Lumpur.

“The Primus one is moving on,” Worthington added. “Dialogue is taking place and I am hopeful an agreement can be reached.

“Nothing has been signed yet but there’s still a chance he could be out here with us soon.”
