Goals from Philip Hughes and Derek Griffin gave Vikings a morale boosting win and plunged Longford's season into further despair.

Cathal O’Connor made an amazing goal line clearance to keep out an Eric Lavine shot before Vikings took the lead on 53 minutes.

Gary O’Neill got in behind Brian McGovern to give Philip Hughes a simple tap-in.

Derek Griffin added the second on 70 minutes when heading home O’Connor’s corner.

Town’s consolation came from Dean Fitzgerald in stoppage time. Too little too late.
