Stephen Ward scored a brace to end brave Limerick’s League Cup dream and but Bohemians into the final.

Lively Limerick shocked Bohs by taking a ninth minute lead.

Keeper Matt Gregg hesitated in coming for a Ross Cosgrove free-kick in from the right and Keith Hartnett sidefooted home his first goal for the club.

Jonathan Mernagh almost doubled that lead six minutes later but his low 20-yarder came back off a post.

Bohs brought on both Kevin Hunt and Glen Crowe at half-time and were level within five minutes.

Damien Lynch worked a one-two down the right with Bobby Ryan to cross for Ward to score with a simple tap in.

Crowe put Bohs in front from a Ryan corner on the hour before Ward sealed the win when stabbing home his second on 70 minutes, again from a Ryan cross.

Lynch added a fourth in stoppage time from yet another Ryan assist.
