Relief for Derry as they clear bottom two

Alan Murphy scored for the second week running as Derry made it two wins on the spin to leapfrog St. Pat’s out of the bottom two.

Aidan O’Keeffe brought a good save from Patrick Jennings before Derry broke away to hit the only goal of the game on 23 minutes when Murphy drilled a shot past Chris Adamson from the edge of the area.

Keith Dunne almost levelled when cracking a volley narrowly wide early in the second half before St. Pat’s were reduced to ten on 55 minutes.

Defender Darragh Maguire was later shown a straight red card by referee Anthony Buttimer following an off the ball clash with Paddy McLaughlin.
