Chelsea agree Kezman fee
Chelsea have agreed a transfer fee with PSV Eindhoven for striker Mateja Kezman.
The 25-year-old will travel to London next week to finalise personal terms, have a medical and apply for a work permit.
âWe are delighted to have agreed terms with PSV for Mateja,â Chelsea chief executive Peter Kenyon told the clubâs official website, www.chelseafc.com.
âHe is one of the top strikers in Europe and will be an excellent addition to our squad and team.â
Kezman boasts one of the most prolific goalscoring records in Europe, having scored 95 goals in four seasons for PSV.
In the 2002-03 season, he scored 35 goals in 33 games which was the highest total in Holland since Marco van Bastenâs 37 for Ajax in 1987.
The Serbo-Montenegrin international has previously been linked with several Premiership clubs, including Birmingham and Fulham.
In May, Birmingham made PSV an offer for Kezman but they could not reach an agreement with the Eindhoven outfit.
The player was also a reported target of Liverpool and Kezman himself admitted in May he was close to a switch to Anfield.
âLiverpool are back in the race (to sign me), thatâs true. It is a marvellous club with a great history. It would be great to join that club,â he told De Telegraaf newspaper at the time.
