Cork city took a step closer to the UEFA cup tonight with an impressive 1-0 away victory over opponents Malmo.

Cork city took a step closer to the UEFA cup tonight with an impressive 1-0 away victory over opponents Malmo.

Liam Kearney came up with the goods after 56 minutes, courtesy of a cross from Neale Fenn, to compliment an impressive defensive performance from the Leesiders.

The result meant that Cork City win the tie 4-1 on aggregate, only the second European victory in the club’s history.

Cork now face NEC Nijmegen from Holland in the next round of the competition, the first leg to be played on Saturday, July 3rd in the De Goffert Stadium in Nijmegen.
