Dublin City fans have got their wish and been granted an official supporters club.

The eircom League Premier Division outfit have been lobbied by Vikings supporters for some time to formalise their fan base and the pressure paid off when City chief executive Ronan Seery agreed to form the Vikings Supporters club.

"It's something I've been conscious of for some time and I'm delighted to announce that we're now going ahead with the decision to do so," Seery told dublincityfc.com.

The first meeting was held in Drumcondra last night and Seery added: "We have a small band of supporters but we're anxious to spread our wings and attract new members.

"We are committed to becoming the top team in Irish football. It's not just a pipe dream, we want to give Dublin a team to be truly proud of."
