Mowbray adds Venus to Hibs staff
New Hibernian manager Tony Mowbray has made his first capture of the summer by appointing former team-mate Mark Venus as first team coach.
The pair played together during their time at Ipswich and have been reunited again at Easter Road.
The former Wolves and Leicester defender takes on the role as player/coach and he admits he jumped at the chance to join Mowbray in Edinburgh.
Venus said: “I‘ve known Tony for seven years now since our Ipswich Town days as team-mates.
“We had then and still do have a close working relationship and I am delighted to have been given the chance to join Tony at Hibernian Football Club.”
Former Celtic defender Mowbray was the surprise replacement for Bobby Williamson after he quit to take over the managerial reigns at Plymouth.
The Hibees finished a lowly eighth in the SPL last season and Mowbray is determined to see an improvement next term and he insists Venus is the ideal person to aid him.
