Newspaper backs Lineker over Kewell writ

A British newspaper today defended Gary Lineker’s right to air his views after Liverpool player Harry Kewell announced he is to sue the former England soccer star for libel.

Kewell, 25, last month issued a High Court writ over comments made by BBC TV football pundit Lineker in his Sunday Telegraph column last July. In it Lineker criticised the Australian’s transfer to Liverpool.
