Diamond opts against Candystripes return

Derry City president Paul Diamond has decided not to re-join the board of directors at the troubled eircom Premier Division club.

Diamond had been discussing a return to the board and met with directors last week, according to the Derry Journal.

He had sought details of the club's financial situation and information regarding the new manager before making any decision.

When information was not forthcoming, Diamond withdrew his offer to join the Brandywell club’s board.
