Tarnat set to return to Germany

Michael Tarnat is expected to return to the Bundesliga this summer after a season in the Premiership with Manchester City, with Hannover his likely destination.

After turning down a return to his home city of Munich, where relegated 1860 had made the former Bayern full-back an offer, Tarnat is now expected to join Hannover.

“I’m about 80% sure of joining Hannover,” Tarnat said following talks with new Hannover general manager Ilja Kaenzig.

“I’ve held productive talks with (coach) Ewald Lienen but there is one other interesting proposition from the Bundesliga.”

And the 34-year-old is due to make his final decision in the near future after talks with the other unnamed club and his family.
