The 50th birthday of UEFA will be marked at tomorrow night’s eircom League Cup quarter-final between Longford Town and Dublin City at Flancare Park (kick-off 7.45pm).

June 15 is the 50th anniversary of the founding of UEFA and UEFA has asked each member association to mark the historic day by releasing 50 specially-commissioned blue and gold jubilee balloons.

A total of over 20,000 balloons will be released across Europe tomorrow.

As the Longford Town v Dublin City cup tie is the only domestic fixture taking place on June 15, the balloons will be released at Flancare Park.

Attached to each balloon are cards, the finders of which should return to UEFA to claim Jubilee souvenirs and two lucky cards will entitle the finder to a pair of complimentary tickets for the 2005 Champions League Final.
