Dowie set for new Palace deal
Ian Dowie is set to sign a new four-year contract with Crystal Palace next week.
Talks between Dowie’s representative, PFA deputy chief executive Mick McGuire, and Palace chairman Simon Jordan are at an advanced stage and the new deal is set to be finalised early next week.
“I have had a couple of meetings with Mr Jordan and our discussions have been very meaningful,” McGuire told the Press Association.
“I would say we are quite far down the road and we shall be meeting again early next week, when hopefully the contract will be signed.”
Dowie has one year left on his existing deal but will earn himself a bumper new contract after guiding Palace into the Premiership via the play-offs.
McGuire added: “Ian is very pleased with the way the talks are progressing and is looking forward to making this new commitment to the club.”
