Bolton manager Sam Allardyce has been given the go-ahead to bolster his squad this summer.

Striker Michael Bridges will arrive on July 1 when his contract at Leeds expires and midfielder Aliou Cisse is poised to move from Birmingham.

Bolton chairman Phil Gartside told BBC GMR: “We are looking for a squad of between 21-23 players. That seems to be the number at the moment.

“As we have let some players go we are a bit light on that. That’s why we are trying to build a squad to the right levels.”

By finishing eighth in the table, Bolton got a financial windfall from Premiership prize money.

Gartside had earlier admitted he had budgeted for the team to finish 17th.
