Premiership new boys West Brom have signed Danish international Martin Albrechtsen, according to his Danish club.

The 24-year-old defender, capped three times by his country, has joined for an undisclosed fee, after two highly successful years with FC Copenhagen.

“I have had two and a half fantastic years at FC Copenhagen, winning two championships and the cup final once,” said Albrechtsen.

“And although I looked forward to playing in the Champions League qualifying rounds, West Bromwich Albion made me an exciting offer which I couldn’t refuse.

“I’m looking forward to my new life in England.”

Despite being a full international, Albrechtsen failed to win a place in Morten Olsen’s Euro 2004 squad.
