Hearts land Jamie McAllister

Hearts have signed defender Jamie McAllister on a two-year deal after his contract with Livingston expired on Monday.

The Scotland international was linked with a move to the Coca-Cola League in England, with Sheffield Wednesday a likely destination.

But Tynecastle head coach Craig Levein has snapped up the 26-year-old left-back to bolster his squad for next season.

Hearts assistant coach Peter Houston told the club’s official website, www.heartsfc.co.uk: “Left-back is a position we have been looking to fill for some time and we are delighted that Jamie has agreed to join us.

“We’ve played against him in the Premier League this season and have always been impressed with his performances.

“I know there was competition for his signature from clubs down in England, so we’re pleased that he’s agreed to join Hearts.”
