Sunderland sign Republic U21 international
Sunderland boss Mick McCarthy today completed his first summer signing when he handed former Manchester City striker Stephen Elliott the chance to make his name on Wearside.
The Republic of Ireland Under-21 international, who made his Premiership debut for City at Bolton on February 21, has signed a three-year deal and will add to the competition for places in attack at the Stadium of Light.
Elliott, 20, who was out of contract at the City of Manchester Stadium, said: “With my contract about to expire at Manchester City, I had various options presented to me but when I heard about Sunderland's interest, I was thrilled.
“The prospect of joining Sunderland is very exciting and I am looking forward to having the opportunity to work with Mick McCarthy.”
