Carrick saddened by Hammers' failure

West Ham midfielder Michael Carrick knows he needs to be playing in the Premiership sooner rather than later.

The twice-capped England midfielder could be on his way out of Upton Park during the summer after the Hammers failed to secure a return to the top flight when they lost to Crystal Palace in the Nationwide First Division play-off final on Saturday.
