Republic must wait for benefit - Kerr

Brian Kerr believes it might take up to three years before the Republic of Ireland get the benefits of playing in the Unity Cup.

After crashing to their heaviest defeat for nine years, 3-0 at the hands of Nigeria yesterday, many fans were scratching their heads pondering the merits of playing in the event, especially as the game came less than 48 hours after the Republic’s 1-0 win over Romania at Lansdowne Road.
