Five changes expected for Kerr's men

Brian Kerr made five changes to his Republic of Ireland team for the opening Unity Cup clash with Nigeria at The Valley.

Missing from the team who beat Romania 1-0 in the friendly at Lansdowne Road on Thursday were Shay Given, Andy O’Brien, Roy Keane, Andy Reid and Clinton Morrison.

That gave a chance to impress for Nicky Colgan, Gary Doherty, Mark Kinsella, Stephen McPhail and Alan Lee.
