Villareal now lead chase for Larsson
Henrik Larsson’s agent has confirmed that negotiations have taken place with Villarreal over a possible move to the Spanish club.
Swedish international Larsson is considering the Primera Liga club after deciding to leave Scottish champions Celtic after seven years in Glasgow.
Agent Rob Jansen has spoken to Villarreal director Juan Llaneza on Larsson’s behalf and claimed discussions went well.
Jansen told The Sun: “Your information is correct. I was in Spain last Thursday and I had a meeting with Mr Llaneza about Henrik Larsson.
“What we discussed is confidential and I cannot disclose any other details, but I can say the talks with Villarreal were very positive indeed.”
Earlier this week, Jansen played down reports linking the departing Celtic hero with a move to Barcelona.
Jansen said: “A move to Spain is very likely. We are waiting at the moment for Henrik to make up his mind which club he wants to play for. But he has several options – approximately four.
“We have been to Barcelona and they haven’t said anything. We mentioned it and they didn’t respond so what else can you do?”
