Rangers stall Arveladze contract talks
Rangers have stalled on contract negotiations with striker Shota Arveladze until September.
The Georgian international’s agent, Ivan Benes, was at Ibrox on Tuesday with a view to discussing an extension to the player’s current deal, which ends next year.
But talks have now been delayed until the 31-year-old proves his fitness after a knee injury and earns a regular first-team berth.
A Rangers statement read: “Ivan Benes, the representative of Shota Arveladze, yesterday met with Rangers Football Club regarding his client’s current situation.
“It was agreed that the player’s contractual terms would remain the same until he was back to fitness and playing regularly.
“It was also agreed that, in September, further discussions will be held regarding any future contract extension.”
Arveladze’s season came to an end early in March when he underwent an operation on the injury.
