Everton’s deputy chairman Bill Kenwright has laughed off reports they have sold Wayne Rooney to Manchester United.

Everton’s deputy chairman Bill Kenwright has laughed off reports they have sold Wayne Rooney to Manchester United.

The 18-year-old England striker has also been linked with a summer switch to Chelsea.

But Kenwright told the club’s official website, www.evertonfc.com: “It is always difficult to respond to rubbish. David Moyes and myself have discussed a combined response and it is: 'The article is laughable.'

“No deal has ever been discussed, set up or agreed with Manchester United or, indeed, any other football club on the planet.”
