Blues' Savage won't be joining rivals Villa

Aston Villa have dismissed speculation linking them with a summer move for Birmingham midfielder Robbie Savage.

The Wales international has been mentioned as one of Villa boss David O’Leary’s potential targets but the club have denied any interest.

Chief executive Bruce Langham told the club’s official website, www.avfc.co.uk: “As David O’Leary said last week, he has given the board a list of the men he would like to bring in this summer but Robbie Savage is not on that list.

“This is just a silly season story that has no basis in fact and a lot of people are getting hot under the collar for no reason at all.”
