Shels extend lead at the top

Pat Fenlon's Shels availed of Waterford’s defeat to extend their lead at the top of the table to five points.

Derry dominated the opening 25 minutes and Jim Crawford had to make a goal-saving block to deprive Sean Hargan.

Shels settled and got on top into the second half with a super 58th minute goal from Glen Fitzpatrick clinching the points.

Jason Byrne threaded the ball through to his fellow striker and Fitzpatrick calmly shot past Patrick Jennings for a coolly taken winner.
