Irish players go in Owls cull
Irish players Brian Barry-Murphy, Derek Geary and Alan Quinn are among 13 players who have been released by boss Chris Turner, who has delivered his promise to wield the axe at Hillsborough.
Only four players have escaped Turner’s cull with youngsters Jon Shaw, Lewis McMahon, Matthew Hamshaw and Richard Evans offered new deals to stay at the club.
Others to go are veteran striker Mark Robins, keepers Kevin Pressman and Chris Stringer, defenders Steven Haslam, Leigh Bromby, Dean Smith and Jon Beswetherick and midfielders Paul McLaren, Terry Cooke and Robbie Mustoe.
