Defoe grabs Spurs win against Blackburn
Spurs 1 Blackburn 0
Jermain Defoe ensured Spurs ended their home campaign on a winning note when he scored with a stunning volley after 17 minutes.
It was route one football as Ledley King played a long ball out of defence.
Defoe nipped ahead of the Blackburn defence, allowed the ball to bounce once and ripped a fierce volley beyond Peter Enckelman and into the roof of the net for his sixth goal since signing for the club in January.
Spurs might have won more comfortably against lacklustre Rovers but Enckelman marked his debut with a fine saves from Defoe and Robbie Keane, while Keane also headed against the bar.
Jon Stead wasted the visitors’ best chance when he fired a golden chance wide.
