Gunners to celebrate side by side

Arsenal’s women will join Arsene Wenger’s side in an open-top bus to parade the FA Cup around north London after beating Charlton 3-0 in the final at Loftus Road.

The Frenchman may be on course to lead his team to the first unbeaten season in Barclaycard Premiership history, but women’s manager Vic Akers has a record even Wenger would dream of, with six wins from six FA Cup finals and a total of 18 trophies in as many years.

So it is only fitting that a memorable season for Arsenal as a club will be commemorated in style with the two men standing side by side.

Akers said: “This football club has always given everyone the same respect and it goes without saying that we will parade the trophies together.

“We have won a trophy a year and I am delighted it has gone so well. We have a solid club here who always try to play the game the right way.”

His side also now have a great chance to clinch a double, with the winner of the final league game of the season between Arsenal and Fulham later this month certain to capture the league title.
