Black day for Sky Blues boss

First Division Coventry have parted company with manager Eric Black.

The Scot took over from Gary McAllister in January but despite the 5-2 win at relegation-threatened Gillingham on Saturday the club have decided to freshen things up.

Assistant manager Archie Knox and goalkeeping coach Alan Hodgkinson have also left the Highfield Road outfit, with manager chairman Mike McGinnity saying: “We feel inconsistency has been a major issue for the team over recent months and that we need a new face to drive the club forward, particularly considering our move to a new stadium in August 2005.

“However, we would like to thank Eric, Archie and Alan for the contribution they have made to Coventry City and wish them all the best for the future.”

Academy manager Steve Ogrizovic will take temporary charge of team affairs.
