Rovers’ Keith Doyle and David McGill of Dublin City were sent off in a late incident out of character with what had been a riveting match.

Substitute McGill was guilty of a bad lunging challenge on Doyle of 83 minutes with the Rovers left-back retaliating by tripping the Vikings midfielder.

Both were shown a straight red card. Shane Robison, who had earlier hit a post, might then have won it for Rovers on 90 minutes but headed over the bar.
