Arsenal tipped to land Feyenoord's van Persie
A decision on Robin van Persie’s future is expected in the next couple of days with Arsenal favourite to land the Feyenoord winger.
Although the Rotterdam club have declined to confirm details of van Persie’s plans, reports in Holland suggest the Dutch Under-21 international will make the switch to Highbury.
The 20-year-old is expected to move for around £2.3m (€3.46m) and sign a four-year contract.
Feyenoord spokesman Fred Blankemeijer said: “We do not know yet where van Persie will be going and cannot say.
“We have no details to reveal at the minute, but we should know within the next couple of days and we will be making an announcement.”
Arsenal made a bid for van Persie in the January transfer window, but after having their offer rejected they moved for Seville’s Jose Reyes instead.
Van Persie has emerged as a target for PSV Eindhoven, Werder Bremen and Seville in recent weeks but, according to the Dutch daily Rotterdams Dagblad, Arsenal became leading candidates the moment they re-entered the bidding.
Van Persie can play in attack as well as out wide and he is being touted as a long-term replacement for compatriot Dennis Bergkamp, who will turn 35 next month.
