Chelsea's French pair out of order - Pires

Arsenal midfielder Robert Pires believes playacting has no place in football.

Pires chastised fellow Frenchman Claude Makelele, who seemed to feign injury to get Andreas Zikos sent off during Chelsea’s Champions League semi-final first leg against Monaco last week.

He was also critical of Marcel Desailly, who elbowed Fernando Morientes.

“I have heard players say this kind of thing is all part of the game, but I don’t agree.

“I am sorry to see the players showing these two bad images and surprised they should act in this way. It is not good for football.

“It’s regrettable they should do it against a French team in France. You will have to ask people there how they see the players now.

“They have seen a different facet of the players than they had before.”
