Arveladze set for new Ibrox deal

Rangers striker Shota Arveladze is set to sign a new contract.

Rangers striker Shota Arveladze is set to sign a new contract.

The Georgian was his side’s top scorer this season before being sidelined by a knee injury which required an operation.

The 31-year-old had been linked with a return to Ajax and a number of Turkish clubs were also interested.

But he is now set to pledge his future to the Ibrox outfit, according to agent Ivan Benes.

He told the Scottish Daily Express: “Everything has been pretty much agreed and we expect Shota’s new deal to be finalised next week.

“There is interest from a lot of clubs, including teams in England, but I have discussed things with Shota and he sees no reason why he should leave Scotland.”
