Atkinson counts cost of racist outburst

Ron Atkinson was tonight counting the cost of a racist outburst which shocked the world of football and forced him to resign from his post at ITV Sport.

The pundit, whose contract to write expert analysis for British newspaper The Guardian has been terminated by mutual consent, emerged from his Worcestershire home this morning to insist he was not a racist.
